Dynamical Systems and the Brain
The speakers in this minisymposium will present the results of several applications of dynamical systems to brain processes and structure. The presentations include discussions of traveling waves in neural tissue, the existence of chaotic and periodic behavior in in vitro samples of brain tissue, an examination of question of whether one should invoke low dimensional chaos to explain normal EEG signals, and the application of methods of nonlinear time series analysis to study and predict the onset of epileptic seizures.
