Dynamics in Resonant Systems
Resonances are well known to cause complex or irregular behavior in dynamical systems. Frequently, motions near resonant domains of the phase space admit different time scales. This makes their study more complicated and necessitates the use of both regular and singular perturbation techniques. In other cases, a regular perturbation approach is sufficient but requires new constructions. The speakers will survey some of the recent developments in the study of resonances in lower and in higher dimensional systems. They will also present applications from rigid body dynamics and molecular dynamics.
