Complex Spatio-Temporal Behavior in Excitable Media
The speakers in this minisymposium will discuss the results of theoretical efforts aimed at modeling complex spatio-temporal behavior in biologically and physiologically relevant excitable media with emphasis on making contact with experiment. They will discuss the waves of chemical signaling which play a vital role in organizing the aggregation and motion of amoeba colonies and the waves of electrical signaling which underly reentrant cardiac arrhythmias and fibrillation.
