Chaos and Nonlinear Dynamics in Ecology
Although virtually all the important processes in ecology are nonlinear, and some of the initial discoveries of nonlinear dynamics were made in the context of ecological models, there has been a renewed interest in chaos and nonlinear dynamics in ecology. The speakers will discuss several problems in ecology, emphasizing the role that nonlinear dynamics and chaos play in the ecological problem under consideration. They will also discuss mathematical tools, such as analysis of nonlinear dynamics of difference, differential and integro-differential equations, both through simulation and analytical techniques. The minisymposum will illustrate some of the most important and exciting applications of nonlinear dynamical systems.
